The call to South Africa first came after Pastor Mike and Kaycee brought their two young children to visit Mike’s parents in South Africa. Pastor Mike writes:
What I thought would be a fun-filled Christmas holiday in 2005, turned out to be a gut wrenching jolt. I learned that my beautiful native land is now in the top three nations of the world for the HIV/AIDS infection, with 800-1,000 people dying daily from that deadly killer. My first reaction was, “I can do nothing to change this situation”. But God formulated a plan in my heart to start somewhere and help bring a spiritual awakening to those who are living in a region, where death stalks its victims like a ravenous lion. The people are literally living in the valley of the shadow of death. South Africa is too important to God to just wither and disappear from the planet.
When Pastor’s Mike and Kaycee returned to their home in Denver, Colorado, they acquiesced to step away from the church they had pioneered. This allowed the Holy Spirit to bring another in their place where the sheep would still have a shepherd, and it also allowed the Holy Spirit to put them in a position to pursue South Africa whole-heartedly. They, along with their two children, Michal Maree and Noah Elisha, possess a great willingness and compassion to impact the seemingly forgotten, with biblical empowerment. With Cape Town as a target, they plan to assist established ministries, provide strength and development to the church body, and impact social issues by becoming the church’s voice, even in local government. In addition, Pastor Mike and Kaycee also possess a passion to see godly leadership established, and that the paradigm, as a proactive church force, be produced and multiplied throughout, even the nation.
The Fabe’s efforts will be focused in these three areas:
- Evangelism and Church planting, bringing hope to the hopeless, through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Shedding light on poverty that cripples a large portion of the nation. By training and equipping the indigent, to not only be self sufficient, but to also what the Word of God says about the body of Christ having dominion over all the earth.
- They plan to bring aid to both the HIV/AIDS crisis, and the rampant drug use, which is dissecting scores of families and leaving thousands of children homeless. This will be done by establishing healing rooms and a Rehabilitation and Deliverance Center.
In preparation for their work in Cape Town, Mike and Kaycee have been formally trained; Pastor Mike has served for several years both in South Africa and the U. S. They have pioneered and pastored a local church in Denver, Colorado and were mentored by some world renowned ministers. Mike interned and served for over 8 years
in the ministry of Dr. Marilyn Hickey and was also mentored by her.
South Africa, a nation once known by the world for its racial segregation, is now brimming with hope. Mike and Kaycee are full of expectancy to see how God will work through them and others, to redeem this nation, one community at a time, God’s way.
